Today, we're proud to announce the formation of our Advisory Council. Since our founding in 2014, Remix has been committed to solving real problems in the transportation sector. This commitment and steadfast focus is what propelled us to be one of the fastest-growing civic startups, expanding from 1 to 325 cities across 20 countries in five years.

Our customers spend every day planning systems to deliver people to their jobs safely, reliably, and equitably. As we expand our offerings to aid in the planning of holistic transportation networks, we remain dedicated as ever to truly understanding the obstacles, meeting cities where they are, and starting from real problems instead of shiny solutions. We will rely on the expertise of our Advisory Council to guide us. 

The definition of advice is: guidance or recommendations offered with regard to prudent future action. Too often, tech companies turn to advisors with limited experience actually solving the problems cities face. Our Advisory Council is entirely comprised of expert practitioners in the transportation sector - including former Remix customers and those who have been their shoes for decades. They are civil engineers, urban designers, policymakers, general managers, and executives; they are the doers, the implementers, the folks that have toiled to see the public vision of the future come to life.

As we enter an unprecedented era that will truly test the limits of our traditional transportation paradigm, we believe these are the individuals who will truly help us deliver safer, more accessible and more equitable mobility systems that achieve more livable cities.

Janet Attarian

Janet has over 25 years of experience in creating beautiful, livable cities with a focus on neighborhood placemaking, transportation, and sustainable design. In her leadership role as Senior Mobility Strategist she helps craft SmithGroup’s vision for smart, sustainable urban places across a wide spectrum of environments. Bringing her expansive expertise and thought leadership to help cities tackle the challenges of creating sustainable infrastructure and mobility solutions that support a high quality of life for all its citizens.

Previously, Janet was Deputy Director for the City of Detroit’s Planning and Development Department, where she helped craft a planning vision for the City and oversaw the launch of a series of inclusionary neighborhood planning frameworks, forging partnerships and securing funding to ensure their implementation. Janet helped re-envision the city’s streets, driving specific place-based mobility improvement projects, including streetscapes, protected bike lanes, and plazas. Prior to working at the City of Detroit, Janet was the Complete Streets & Sustainability Director for the Chicago Department of Transportation, where she worked to turn Chicago’s streetscapes, riverwalks, and pocket parks into great urban places. Her ability to meld the concepts of complete streets and ecological design led to the development of the City’s Sustainable Streets Program and Green Alley Program.

Russ Brooks

Russ Brooks is the Principal and Founder of Scale Consulting – a strategic consulting firm helping clients develop and implement plans, policies and projects to shape the on-the-ground future of urban mobility. Prior to founding Scale, Russ was the Director of Smart Cities for Transportation for America. In 2016, Russ created and launched the Smart Cities Collaborative – a peer to peer learning network to bring together leading-edge cities to explore how technology can improve urban mobility and tackle the challenges related to advancing smart mobility policies and projects. Participant cities in the Collaborative receive direct technical assistance, develop policies, launch pilot projects and share their experiences with the rest of the Collaborative to drive best practices.


Before launching the Collaborative, Russ was T4America's Deputy Director and founded the Urbanful project, a startup launched to support small-batch manufacturers and local businesses with profits going to support Smart Growth America's work. Prior to joining T4America, Russ served as the National Director for CABT, an organization focused on freight and highway safety, and was responsible for strategizing, planning and implementing their state and federal policy agenda as well as managing the organization's field staff.

Tamika Butler, Esq.

Tamika L. Butler, Esq. is Toole Design’s Director of Planning for California and the Director of Equity and Inclusion. In addition to her responsibilities on planning projects, Tamika leads Toole Design’s internal efforts to become a more diverse, inclusive workplace that employs people of all backgrounds. 

Tamika has a unique blend of expertise including law, community organizing and nonprofit leadership. After spending several years as an employment lawyer at Legal Aid at Work in San Francisco, CA (formerly Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center), Tamika became Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, then Executive Director of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, a non-profit organization that addresses social and racial equity, and wellness, by building parks and gardens in park-poor communities across Greater Los Angeles, before joining Toole as Director of Planning for California. 

Tamika previously served on the board of the Alliance for Biking and Walking. She also served as the co-chair of the National Center for Lesbian Rights Board of Directors and served on the board of an affordable housing land trust, T.R.U.S.T. South LA . She currently serves on the boards of the New Leaders Council - Los Angeles and Lambda Literary Foundation and is an advisory board member for Legal Aid at Work’s Fair Play for Girls in Sports program. Tamika received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, and received her B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Sociology in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. She currently lives in Leimert Park with her wife Kelly and son Atei.

Veronica Davis

Veronica O. Davis, PE is a self-described transportation nerd. She believes all people should have access to safe, reliable, and affordable transportation. She has over 16 years of experience in civil engineering and planning. She is currently a co-owner and Principal Planning Manager at Nspiregreen LLC.

At Nspiregreen, she is responsible for managing the Multimodal Transportation and Community Planning projects, which includes surface transportation planning, policy development, and long-range planning. She was the Principal-in-Charge for the Vision Zero Action Plans for the District of Columbia and the City of Alexandria in Virginia. This includes guiding the team to develop strategies to prioritize the safety of people biking and walking. 

Veronica is one of the co-founders of Black Women Bike (BWB), an organization and movement that encourages African American women to use biking for health and wellness as well as an alternative form of transportation for commuting. In less than two years the organization has grown to over 1,900 African American women ranging in age from late 20’s to early 70’s. She is also on the Board for America Walks.

She earned her dual Masters Degrees (Engineering Management and Regional Planning) from Cornell University.  She has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Maryland. She is a registered professional engineer in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. In July 2012, the White House recognized her as a Champion of Change and Transportation Innovator for her professional accomplishments and community advocacy in the District of Columbia.

Meera Joshi

A global transportation leader with wide-ranging experience navigating technological and regulatory change, Ms. Joshi is Sam Schwartz’s New York General Manager. She manages daily operations of the office, oversees client relationships, and leads business development initiatives for multiple services and key pursuits throughout the region

As Chair and CEO of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), Meera spearheaded novel regulations, resolving challenges brought on by the rapid growth of rideshare services while simultaneously enhancing passengers’ safe access to a wide range of new mobility. Under her tenure, New York became the first city in the nation to mandate the reporting of granular trip data from large app operators like Uber and Lyft. Much of this information is now publicly available and an invaluable asset for transportation planners.

In a global first, she led the development of a regulatory framework protecting the wages of the city’s 80,000+ app drivers. This now serves as a model for other jurisdictions. She also led the nation’s largest accessibility initiative, providing passengers who use wheelchairs reliable travel options in taxi and app services.

Most recently, Meera has been a visiting scholar at NYU’s Rudin Center and a policy advisor to Remix. Before being appointed Commissioner, she served as TLC’s Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs and General Counsel, and as an executive manager at NYC’s Civilian Complaint Review Board and Department of Investigation.

Tim Papandreou

Timothy has nearly two decades of global experience in moving people and things in both business and government. He has led teams, launched and scaled almost every mode of transport service and is considered a global expert and thought leader in the future of mobility and automation. 

Timothy has experience implementing innovations in mobility both in the public and private sector. As the former strategic partnerships manager at Google X and Waymo, he collaborated with cross-functional teams to prepare the commercialization and launch of the world's first fully self-driving ride hailing service, while being fully immersed in the technology. As the Chief Innovation Officer for San Francisco’s transportation agency, he lead cross-functional teams to deliver various programs such as the US Smart City Challenge; the Strategic Work Plan meeting its 50% sustainable mode share goal 3 years early; large redevelopment and multimodal projects; launched the Mayor's Vision Zero transportation safety; and supported future initiatives around port and airports including the nation's first urban drone policy efforts. Timothy also co-founded City Innovate, a smart city platform matching governments and startups to accelerate innovation.

He is the founder of Emerging Transport Advisors providing strategic guidance to clients to prepare for the active, shared, electric and automated disruptions to the transport system and broader society.

Tina Quigley

With more than 30 years of experience in air and ground transportation management, Tina Quigley is an expert at getting people, projects, and big ideas from Point A to Point B.

Quigley served as CEO, and Deputy CEO prior, for the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. Named the most efficient transit system in America, the RTC oversees public transportation, traffic management, road construction and funding, and regional planning for a city of 2.2 million residents and 43 million annual visitors. During her tenure, Quigley embraced and fought for sweeping technological advances, advocated for comprehensive future planning, and built critical partnerships to position the Las Vegas Valley for ongoing and sustained economic vitality.

Quigley began her career as a manager at McCarran International Airport, one of the nation’s busiest airports. She is a licensed pilot and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Business and Planning from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
